Thomas Kole, a technical artist, dedicated his leisure time to creating a 3D reconstruction of Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire.
Utilizing Linux, Blender, GIMP, and Darktable, along with his artistic abilities, he was able to produce an astonishingly accurate depiction of the former Aztec capital, now known as Mexico City.
